If you are using NPH, Lente, Ultralente or Vetsulin® insulin and it looks okay, gently roll the bottle between your hands about 20 times until the liquid is well mixed and has an even look.
Insulin should never be shaken — this creates air bubbles that could make it hard to draw insulin into the syringe. Shaking could even damage the insulin.
